On Sunday (5-5-13) we had the privilege of being present for the Zone visit of Taiwan. The Speaker was from Brooklyn and had actually been in a Chinese congregation for a while in the past. This was the first time that the zone visit was broadcast with video. In years past there was only audio or you would have to travel to Bethel to hear the talk.

After the meeting we enjoyed talking with a couple from Germany who has been doing Chinese for 9 years. They were very encouraging. We asked them what suggestions they had for us and the rest of our Chinese group. They told us that the key to being useful is not necessarily being fluent in the language. They told us that when their group started they had more visitors from the field than they did witnesses. They felt that this wasn't going to encourage the new ones coming to the meeting. So they told some from their German congregation to come and be "eye candy". As time went on some of them started learning. Even though most of them haven't progressed too much in the language they are still supporting the congregation and many have studies.
They stressed that as long as you are in a field where there is a need, and you are really giving it all then you are useful.
We appreciated their kind words. Anyone in foreign language would agree there are definite ups and downs, you just have to get through the low points.
We have loved meeting friends like this from different countries, doing the same work we are. Its one of the many blessing we have enjoyed here and want to share with our congregation back home.
until later
Love Phil & Hannah
